Much-anticipated movie ‘Sam Bahadur’ starring Vicky Kaushal has finally had its theatrical release.
The movie, which is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, pays homage to Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw who is a prominent figure in Indian history who led the war that ended with the creation of Bangladesh, released on December 1, competing against Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’.

Plot
This biopic aims to shed light on Sam Bahadur’s illustrious career and life, spanning four decades and five wars. His role in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, which led to the creation of Bangladesh, is the central focus of this film.

Budget and box office
Sam Bahadur is estimated to be made on a budget of $6.5 million. The film went onto make Rs 5.5 crore at the India box office on its opening day. Of this, the film made around Rs 3.48 crore from national multiplex chains as of 10:30 pm on Friday.
The film made Rs 2.80 crore from PVR-INOX multiplex chains and around Rs 68 lakh from Cinepolis chains, according to Box Office Worldwide.
Reviews
As per Indian critics, Meghna Gulzar’s somewhat episodic biopic of Indian army officer Sam ‘The Brave’ Manekshaw presents him in terms of outright if charming, heroism.
For the Indian public, as expected, the audience had great expectations from the war drama and it seemed like they were not disappointed.
OTT rights
Vicky Kaushal’s starrer will make its digital debut on the OTT giant ZEE5, while the release date has not been announced by the officials yet.
