When news about a drama based on the Pakistan-India relationship broke, it soon became a trending topic in Pakistan.
With an A-list cast starring Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir, ‘Dhoop Ki Dewaar’ is slated to be released on 25th June.
The interesting point is that the drama is slated to premiere on an Indian OTT ‘ZEE5’. A few days ago, its trailer was released which was well-received among the audience. However, social media users are now demanding a ban on the drama.
While demanding a ban, some users wrote the drama should be banned because ‘Kashmiri blood is not for sale’. Another one wrote, ‘How could we allow to telecast such nonsense serial when we are witnessing about two years of curfew in Kashmir?’
And another one demanded, ‘The writer of this serial as well as the whole cast should be ashamed of who seems to be supporting the brutality of Indian forces in IOK.’

My point is quite simple. People who are demanding a ban on the alarming situation in Kashmir, why do not object when Big Boss’ contestants trend on Twitter. Who makes them popular? Does it show our dual standards of hypocrisy?
Pakistani society needs to distinguish culture, relation, and religion from entertainment. Here are the few points which sum up or confusion. It is based on the Indo-Pak relationship, it is at the end still a drama, a simple source of entertainment. It should be watched as such.
Think of the bigger picture. Armed forces die protecting their country but at the end of the day, families lose their loved ones, and clearly, the show is about this message.
There is a simple message of harmony in a 4-minute trailer. Last but not the least, if Pakistanis condemn innocent civilians who are murdered by India, then how come Salman Khan trends every week? How come on every Indian Youtube channel, there is more support from Pakistan because we are ‘divided by border but united by art’.
Written by the famous and exceptionally talented writer Umera Ahmed, ‘Dhoop Ki Deewar’ revolves around two teenagers and the love-hate relationship between Pakistanis and Indians.
Sajal Aly will be seen as Sara from Pakistan and Ahad Raza Mir as Vishal from India. Both Sajal Ali and Ahad Raza Mir’s fathers lost their lives in the war.
