Ann Altman, the sister of ChatGPT creator Sam Altman, has filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexually abusing her from 1997 to 2006.
The lawsuit, filed on January 6 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, claims the abuse began when Ann was three and Sam was twelve. Ann alleges that her brother “groomed and manipulated” her, subjecting her to various sex acts over the years, including rape, sexual assault, molestation, sodomy, and battery.
She claims to have suffered significant bodily injury, severe emotional distress, and depression, and has incurred numerous medical bills for treatment.
The lawsuit states that the last instance of alleged abuse occurred when Sam was an adult and Ann was still a minor.
What does Sam Altman say?
Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has denied these allegations in a joint statement on X with his mother and two brothers.
The statement asserts that “all of these claims are utterly untrue” and highlights the challenges of caring for a family member with mental health issues.
The family expressed their love and concern for Ann, noting that Sam provides her with monthly financial support, pays her bills and rent, and even offered to buy her a house, but claims she “continues to demand more money from us.”
Sam Altman, who married his partner Oliver Mulherin in 2024, is a prominent figure in the technology world.
