Legendary actor and celebrated comedian Moin Akhtar is being remembered today on his 74th birth anniversary. He will always be cherished for his timeless humor and unparalleled vision for comedy.
Born in Karachi on December 24, 1950, Moin Akhtar began his artistic journey at just 13 years old, performing in a play based on Shakespeare’s work. He gained widespread acclaim for his iconic show Loose Talk, where he masterfully portrayed over 400 characters.
Fans continue to cherish his memorable performances in Half Plate, and his stand-up comedy acts such as Bakra Qiston Pe and Buddha Ghar Pe Hai, alongside the legendary Umer Sharif.
From theater to television, Moin Akhtar brought endless laughter to audiences, becoming a beloved figure among entertainment enthusiasts. He made his television debut on September 6, 1966, in a variety show on Pakistan Television (PTV) commemorating Pakistan’s first Defence Day.
He was a polyglot, fluent in English, Bengali, Sindhi, Punjabi, Memoni, Pashto, Gujarati, and Urdu, showcasing his versatility in diverse roles. In recognition of his immense contributions to the arts, he was honored with the Presidential Medal for Excellence and the Star of Distinction.
