The body of a four-year-old girl, Maria, who had been reported missing from her home in Mandaz village, Khazana area of Jandool tehsil, was discovered in River Panjkora, the police revealed on Thursday.
Authorities stated that the young girl, identified as Maria, had gone missing from her residence in Mandaz village. Her lifeless body was subsequently found in River Panjkora.
The incident was noticed by Deputy Commissioner Lower Dir Wasil Khan after it gained widespread attention on social media. A team of Lower Dir police, comprising DSP Jandool Bakht Jamal Khan, SP CTD Amjad Khan, and SP investigation Zahoor Ahmed, visited the location of the incident and gathered evidence.
Maria’s body has been moved to the hospital for a post-mortem examination, according to the authorities. The outcomes of this analysis are significant because they will direct the direction of the research moving forward. To piece together the events leading up to Maria’s tragic death, the police are awaiting the report.
The National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) expressed grave concern over the horrific incident. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the NCRC stated, “We are horrified at the murder of innocent Maria and have taken cognizance of this heinous crime. Expecting DPO and DC Lower Dir to give this utmost priority. We must do better in protecting our children.”
