Former Pakistan batsman and ex-member of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s national selection committee, Ijaz Ahmed, has sparked anger in the nation with his irresponsible and controversial comments about Pathan cricketers who are part of the national team.
During a private TV program following Pakistan’s defeat in the T20 World Cup against India, instead of discussing the players’ performance and their mistakes, Ijaz Ahmad began criticizing Pathan cricketers in the Pakistan team.
He stated that Pathans dominate the national team despite lacking education and worldly exposure. “They (Pathan cricketers) just wake up in the morning or at noon, go to the mosque for prayers with their brother or father, and then come back home to stay all the time,” he said, further commenting that they lack worldly exposure and cannot handle pressure.
Ahmed remarked that whenever a Pakistani team is formed, it includes 6 to 8 Pathan players.
These comments from the former cricketer quickly went viral on social media, with netizens expressing their anger and labeling the remarks as completely irresponsible and unacceptable.
