Sindh Government announced on Monday two new routes for the Pink Bus in Karachi to enhance women’s accessibility and safety in public transport.
The two new routes, R3 and R9, have been established. The R3 route spans from Power Chowrangi North Karachi to Nasir Jump Korangi, while the R9 will run from Al-Khidmat Hospital Gulshan-e-Hadid to Tower via Shahra-e-Faisal.
It is worth mentioning here that the Pink Bus service in Karachi is exclusively for women, and women can enjoy two months of free travel on the newly announced R3 and R9 routes.
Furthermore, ten new pink buses have been introduced to augment the service’s fleet, symbolizing the government’s steadfast commitment to prioritizing women’s safety and convenience in public transit.
While announcing the new routes of the Pink Bus, People’s Party Member of the Sindh Assembly, Faryal Talpur, also awarded licenses to four women drivers, signaling progressive strides towards gender inclusion and employment opportunities within the transportation sector.
In her address, Faryal Talpur commended the collaborative efforts of Senior Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and the provincial government, expressing appreciation for their unwavering dedication to advancing women’s welfare and mobility in Karachi.
