Islamabad: It has been revealed that the drinking water in Parliament House and lodges is not safe for use.
Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) sent a letter to the National Assembly Secretariat regarding this issue, as reported by GNN news on Friday.
The quarterly report of PCRWR disclosed that the drinking water in Parliament House and lodges has been deemed harmful to health. According to the document, water samples were collected from six locations, including the Deputy Speaker’s room.
All samples taken from Parliament House were found to be contaminated. The PCRWRC report stated that the water in the tanks of three blocks in the Parliament Lodges is unusable. Only the water from the main filtration plant was found to be safe.
The responsibility for water supply to Parliament House and Lodges lies with the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
It is worth mentioning that, like many other cities in the country, residents of Islamabad are also facing a shortage of water, forcing many to resort to bore water for their needs.
