The teaser for Ananya Panday’s upcoming web series, Call Me Bae, was released on Tuesday.
In the series, Panday plays a South Delhi heiress who falls from her privileged life and must navigate the challenges of a new, more humble existence. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment, the teaser opens with Ananya reflecting on her affluent lifestyle in New Delhi, only to find herself facing financial ruin as all her bank cards are declined and she is reduced to middle-class status.
The teaser follows her struggle in Mumbai as she searches for employment, ranging from social media journalism to managing her apartment. Her challenges highlight the difficulties of adjusting to city life. The teaser concludes with Ananya recounting her struggles to a security guard, who responds, “Your struggle is what our dreams are made of.” Ananya’s character then questions, “Where have I heard that one before?”—a nod to Siddhant Chaturvedi’s viral comment on nepotism and struggle.
