Canadian physician Gabor Maté is a renowned speaker, and bestselling author, Dr. Gabor Maté is highly sought after for his expertise on a range of topics including addiction, stress and childhood development.
Recently, he was invited to Piers Morgan Uncensored to voice his opinion on the ongoing aggression of Israel on Palestine including Gaza and the West Bank.
In the interview, Dr. Gabor urged Piers Morgan to visit Gaza to fully understand the scale of suffering the Palestinian people are going through since the occupation of Israel and added that they have been suffering for “80 years” in total.
He said the following:
“Piers, you have to go there to see it for yourself, as I have. And you would cry every day for two weeks as well.” Gabor who was 15 years old at the time witnessed the great Hungarian Revolution against the Soviet occupation in 1956 resulting in many refugees including himself as he moved to Canada. He said, “Did Russia have the right to defend itself against the Hungarian revolutionaries?” comparing the Hungarians to the Palestinians.
He also stated that “he doesn’t make this stuff up” and that “he wishes it wasn’t true” but all this information came from Israeli historians.
Additionally, Dr. Gabor added that he was a Zionist before reading about the conflict and always dreamt of having a state for all Jews to belong to but not at the cost of the locals (Palestinian people) who already lived there even before 1948.
