PPP violates  agreement with MQM-P during LG poll, says Wasim Akhtar

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar demanded devolution of power at the grassroots level to strengthen the local government system in Sindh.
Addressing at All city Tajir Ittihad Conference, Wasim Akhar urged the Pakistan Peoples’ Party government to empower the local institution financially.
He said, “By empowering financially, these institutions will deliver by addressing and resolving the basic problems of the people of Sindh.
Wasim Akhtar said that the main reason behind piling of civic problems in Karachi is the shortage of funds and power.
The mayor further said that he will oppose the bid to create new districts in Karachi on ethnic lines.
Earlier on Feb 3, Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar said that the PPP led government had paralyzed the local-body institutions.
