Adeel Meo is a young cricketer, a bowler, and an all-rounder who has been selected for the U-19 World Cup in 2022. Hailing from Hyderabad, Adil has a dream of playing for the PSL and the Pakistan national team.
MM News: When did you start playing cricket?
Adeel Meo: I used to play cricket in school and the streets a lot. One of my teachers in Hyderabad acknowledged my talent and made me join an academy. He further advised me to practice more as I was talented and said I should work more on the hard ball to enhance my skills.
MM News: Who is your favourite cricketer?
Adeel Meo: My favourite cricketer is Ravindra Jadeja. I like the way how he is active in fielding which is astonishing. He is a great bowler and a batsman. I and trying hard to become a player like him and make my country proud.
MM News: Are you better as batting or bowling all-rounder?
Adeel Meo: Although I fit in both categories, however, I prefer playing more as a bowler. In the recent under-19 tournament, I also played as a bowling all-rounder.
MM News: What is your biggest achievement until now?
Adeel Meo: When I played for under-16 in Hyderabad, I was ranked top-five as a bowler. I was selected for the Pentagular Cup tournament but unfortunately could not perform well. I played domestic cricket when I shifted to Karachi, and was selected for Karachi Whites Under-19 players. I was not selected in the first 15-member team but the board picked me a year later.
However, after being selected in Sindh Under-19 team, I performed well and was listed in the top four and later became the best player of the tournament as well. I took 9 wickets against Quetta and this became my best moment until now.
MM news: What you like the most when playing cricket?
Adeel Meo: I like fielding the most and I try to give my best in the fielding as well. A player can perform well while batting or bowling but I prefer fielding as it give you more control.
MM News: What you want to do in the future?
Adeel Meo: I want to become a part of the PSL after performing well in the under-19 team. I want to represent Pakistan by playing extraordinary in the PSL.
MM News: Which team are you supporting this year?
Adeel Meo: I am supporting the Quetta Gladiators this year because of Chris Gayle, as he is one of my favourite players.
MM News: Which allrounder would like to be like, Shahid Afridi or Abdur Razaq?
Adeel Meo: Both are my favourite players, I wish to become like these both two all-rounders.
MM News: Have you ever faced difficulties pursuing a career as a cricketer?
Adeel Meo: I used to work as an AC repairer in the academy in return for spending two hours in the cricket academy.
MM News: What message will you give to the youth who want to become like you?
Adeel Meo: It is said that life is not a bed of roses. You have to struggle for what you desire. I have struggled a lot but always remember one thing that struggle never goes wasted. So keep on fighting until you achieve what you desire. Always believe in yourself while performing in the field and think you’re the best and no one can beat you.
