Violence in politics and Pak Army

Ambassador Dr. Jamil by Ambassador Dr. Jamil
May 28, 2023

Whenever any calamity hits Pakistan the government calls upon the security forces and request to deal with the difficult situation. If seen in this context, encouraging the youth to resort to violence by political leaders and resulting in incidents like May 9 is completely against the national interest.

Our politicians, teachers and parents have to pay attention to the positive training of the youth of the nation. It is important that we train the young generation in such a way that going forward they cannot be brainwashed in any way to blindly follow whatever the leader says, even if his instructions come under the law. And even if those instructions are against the national interest.

This is the reason why it has been seen on various occasions that whenever there is a political meeting and after that if the government institutions stop the anti-government political parties from doing wrong, they get angry and take the law into their own hands. They take pride in arson and destruction of government property. When the mindset of 12 crore youth of the dear country is done in this way, it is obvious that the result is something like this, which was demonstrated on May 9.

In fact, all the developments, scenarios and events that took place on May 9 show that there is a lack of trust between our institutions, governments and people. However, despite the progress and the decisions that are being made, they will have far-reaching consequences۔ And those youths who acted on the orders of their leaders, must bear the consequences of their actions because the law takes its course whether it is the Anti-Terrorism Act or the Military Act. After these actions, at least at every level, the juveniles have to believe that no matter how the law is taken into hands, once the law is applied, then it takes its own course.

Once again, I come to the point that when there are any kind of calamities in this country: earthquake, flood or any epidemic, the army is called and help is obtained from it. This is because the army is the most efficient and organized institution in this country.  And it helped the government in every difficult time in the past. For example, when the worst earthquake in history occurred in Azad Kashmir in 2005. Similarly, in 2010 and again in 2022, the country had to face the worst floods in history and the Pakistan Army was at the forefront of all the relief work always.

Pakistan Army also led other security agencies to control terrorism. Similarly, the security of the country’s borders is also the responsibility of our soldiers. The Pakistan Army is standing firm on the border, and the sacrifices tendered by the Pakistan Army against the monster of terrorism are matchless.

The horrifying scenes of the beloved homeland are still remembered till today, in which the brave soldiers of this nation were beheaded and football was played with their heads. Such inhuman acts and brutality have created the history due to which the head of this nation will be bowed with regret till the end of this world. Despite these terrible losses of terrorism, the forces of Pakistan are steadfast and persistent in the spirit of serving the nation.

It is a strange mystery that when a calamity suddenly strikes this nation, the army is remembered, but then their services are completely forgotten for political purposes and shameful attacks like May 9 are carried out. Where is this nation going?

Observe the character and actions of all political parties. No one thinks about the welfare of this country and people, everyone is concerned about their own political interests. The rights given to the people under Article 38 of the Constitution of Pakistan, i.e., the right to basic human amenities, have not been given to them till date, the reason is that political parties are not playing the role that political parties have to play in a democratic country. As a result, we are facing worst situation in every walk of life and with the passage of time the situation deteriorating more and more.

It is now the responsibility of the youth to realize the seriousness of the situation, get out of superficial thinking and hollow political slogans and work for the construction and development of this country because it is they who have to fix this country. No one from outside will come for this.

In the end, that’s all I’ll say.
