Violating Indus Water Treaty an act of aggression, FO

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said to India that denying our share of water under the Indus Water Treaty would be taken as a step of aggression. On this matter, Pakistan has a complete right to respond.

During the weekly briefing, Foreign Office reminded India that under the World Bank brokered treaty of 1960, Pakistan had given the rights to three western rivers. Any attempt by neighbour country to stop or divert the flow of the waters would not be welcome and would be considered as an aggressive act.

This statement by Foreign Office was released to respond the recent comments by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he made a statement that India would not share water with Pakistan.

On this statement, Foreign Office regarded India as an irresponsible aggressive state that neither has respect for international obligations nor for human rights.

The statement further added that such an act or remark must be taken as an eye opener and the world must understand that Modi’s extremist government is a threat to peace not only in South Asia but in the World as well.
