ISLAMABAD: All utility store customers across Pakistan will receive discounts on 19 essential items as part of the Ramadan assistance package from March 20.
According to details, the Rs5 billion relief package for Ramadan will begin on March 20. Those who qualify for the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) will get a relief payment of Rs1.15 billion, while consumers in general will receive a payment of Rs3.84 billion.
A 10 kg bag of flour will cost Rs 400, ghee and sugar will cost Rs300 and Rs70 per kg respectively, while the masses will receive subsidies of Rs100 on ghee, Rs52 on flour, and Rs 30 on sugar. Ordinary consumers will get a subsidy of Rs27 on flour, Rs11 on sugar and Rs25 per kg on ghee, while a 10 kg bag of flour will be available for Rs648, ghee and sugar for Rs490 and Rs89 per kg.
Moreover, all consumers will receive a subsidy of Rs. 20 per kg on pulses, Rs. 25 on cooking oil, and a discount of between 15% and 30% on drinks.
The Ramadan Relief Package and a standard purchase price for the wheat harvest in 2022–2023 at Rs3900/40 kilogram were both approved by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Government last week.
The Ministry of National Food Security and Research reportedly presented the summary of wheat procurement price prior to the ECC meeting, which was chaired by the finance minister Senator Ishaq Dar.
