The regular use of anti-smog guns has commenced in several parts of Lahore, aiming to reduce airborne dust and pollution and improve public health.

According to reports, the Punjab government has introduced anti-smog gun technology as part of its environmental efforts.

Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said that anti-smog guns are now actively being deployed across various locations in Lahore. She added that their effectiveness has also been assessed using an AI-enabled environmental monitoring system.

In addition to this advanced equipment, other initiatives have been launched to control smog in different areas of the province.

The anti-smog guns spray fine water particles into the air to combat smog. This mist helps trap and settle dust and pollutants from the atmosphere. Similar technology is already in use in countries like China and India to reduce air pollution.

Maryam Aurangzeb further revealed that 15 anti-smog guns have been locally manufactured and are now operational, while five more are under production. Each gun is equipped with a water purification system and connected to a 16,000-litre water tank.

She noted that these guns are expected to help reduce respiratory and lung-related illnesses caused by air pollution.
