The United States has issued a security alert for its citizens in Pakistan, advising them to avoid the Serena Hotel in Peshawar and its surrounding areas, including the Peshawar Golf Club, until December 16, 2024.
The advisory, released by the US Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan, stated: “Based on security information received by the US Mission to Pakistan, US Mission personnel have been instructed to avoid the Serena Hotel Peshawar on Khyber Road, as well as the nearby Peshawar Golf Club, from now through December 16, 2024.”
US citizens were urged to avoid the area during this period and reconsider any travel plans. The advisory also referenced the “Do Not Travel” warning for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, issued on September 10, 2024, due to ongoing terrorism threats.
This alert follows rising security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a region frequently affected by terrorist activities.
It also comes shortly after clashes between Sunni and Shia tribes in the province’s Kurram district resulted in at least 70 deaths.
