According to a statement from the White House, Donald Blome also served as US ambassador to Afghanistan. Final approval for his appointment as ambassador to Pakistan will be obtained from the US Senate, which has begun work.
Earlier, in addition to US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, US Secretary of State Angela P. Egler also met with ministers and political leaders in Pakistan to launch a new era in Pak-US relations during the Biden administration.

On the other hand, the US Secretary of State also met with the Acting Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi during which Pak-US relations and the situation in Afghanistan were discussed.
