Prominent US entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr. Ali Sheikhani, has extended a generous donation of Rs10 million to the family of the late journalist Nasrullah Gadani, who tragically lost his life in Mirpur Mathelo.
Nasrullah Gadani, a respected journalist, was senselessly attacked and fatally wounded by armed assailants in Mirpur Mathelo, succumbing to his injuries at a private hospital in Karachi on May 25. Aged forty, Gadani, affiliated with the Sindhi language daily Awami Awaz, initially received medical care at a hospital in Rahim Yar Khan before being airlifted to Karachi for further treatment. His untimely demise elicited widespread outrage and prompted protests from the journalist community across various cities and towns in the province.
Representing Ali Sheikhani, social activist Dr. Zafar Abbas, alongside Deputy Commissioner Ghotki Muhammad Ali and senior journalist Waqar Laghari, presented a Rs10 million check to the grieving family. Of this amount, Rs1 million was allocated to the journalist’s mother, while the remaining Rs9 million was entrusted to the widow.
In a concurrent effort, the JDC contributed Rs600,000 and distributed six laptops to the six children of the martyred journalist.
Earlier, Dr. Ali Sheikhani had pledged Rs20 lakhs per family for the victims affected by tragic gas cylinder incidents and fires in Hyderabad, Pakistan. This compassionate gesture was prompted by a plea from social activist Dr. Zafar Abbas, advocating for support to the families grappling with the loss of their loved ones.
