US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad arrives on a day-long visit to Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: United States (US) Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad landed in Islamabad on a day-long visit on Friday.
According to the sources Ambassador Khalilzad is scheduled to visit the Foreign Office and will attend consultative meetings with Pakistani authorities. Special Envoy will return back to the United States tonight.

Zalmay Khalilzad, on his last visit to Pakistan in December 2019, appreciated Pakistan’s role in ensuring peace in Afghanistan. In his meeting with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the U.S. Envoy addressed problems of mutual interest, including the stability in Afghanistan.
While speaking on the occasion, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan strongly believes that Afghanistan can not be settled by aggression, “The only option is table talks.”
