Karachi Electronic Dealers Association has banned the sale of mobile phones by non-natives as no one except a citizen of Karachi will be able to sell mobile phones.
According to the details, the Karachi Electronic Dealers Association has come up with a big decision to stop the sale of snatched mobile phones, after which no one will be able to sell mobile phones except the citizens of Karachi.
Chairman of Karachi Electronic Dealers Association (KEDA) Minhaj Gulfam said in this regard that theft and snatching of mobile phones have increased in the city. In the current situation, a new system has been introduced for buying and selling snatched and stolen mobile phones.
Minhaj Gulfam said that SOPs have been set up by Karachi Electronic Dealers Association in collaboration with police and CPLC.
Now for the sale of mobile phones, one has to have a Karachi identity card, no shopkeeper will buy a mobile phone without verification.
While Overseas Pakistanis will be able to sell mobiles by showing a copy of their passport and receipt of mobile purchase. It should be noted that according to the data released by CPLC, the number of crimes in Shar-e-Quaid did not decrease significantly even in February 2022, and incidents of looting, theft, and snatching continued. In the 28 days of February 2199 mobile phone snatching incidents were reported as against 2499 in the first month of January this year.
