The British High Commission announced on Friday that the UK will fund seven climate change projects in Pakistan, including the development of solar farms and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to reduce emissions.
“These initiatives include constructing floating solar farms, utilizing AI to cut emissions, converting agricultural waste into clean energy, and developing zero-emission electric motorbikes, all with the backing of UK experts,” stated the commission.
Support will be provided through the Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA), a £12.6 million technical assistance initiative funded by International Climate Finance, a UK government commitment aimed at helping developing nations tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities presented by climate change.
The projects will receive tailored support, including expertise in financial structuring, gender equality, and social inclusion, to help strengthen their proposals and secure investment.
Among the initiatives is a 500MW floating solar farm at Keenjhar Lake, which will generate clean energy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Another project will employ an AI platform to lower emissions, while Quintech Sciences will focus on eco-friendly and health-conscious innovations.
