ISLAMABAD: Armed robbers have killed two people in an attempt to loot a truck in Shams Colony at IJP road in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Sources said two armed robbers riding a motorcycle tried to loot a truck on IJP Road in Shams Colony police station. When the driver did not stop the truck, the robbers indiscriminately opened fire.
As a result, two people, including the truck driver sustained severe bullet injuries and died on the spot. On the other hand, the policemen on patrol chased the motorcyclists but the accused fled after leaving the motorcycle behind, however, police failed to apprehend the culprits, sources added.
The motorcycle was seized by the police. The investigation was being carried out using modern technology and geo-fencing. Sources said after the roadblocks were removed the robbers are looting people freely in the Federal Capital during the daytime. The safest city has become a crime center.
Five people have been killed in different firing incidents in the federal capital over the past three days. Earlier, the district police claimed to have arrested two suspected dacoits in injured condition after an encounter in Rawalpindi, while two of their accomplices managed to escape.
Banni police station during snap checking of vehicles intercepted two suspected motorcycles near Sheikh Rashid Pulli, but the suspected dacoits opened fire on the police party.
As a result, in cross-firing, two suspected dacoits received bullet injuries and netted. The police party shifted the injured dacoits to the hospital for medical treatment.
