KARACHI: A Municipal Commissioner and Director Advertisement of District Municipal Corporation (East) have been placed under suspension for their involvement in granting permission for installing a billboard illegally.
A notification, issued by the Sindh local government secretary, Municipal Commissioner East, Waseem Mustafa Soomro and Director Advertisement Javed-ur-Rehman has been suspended over illegal practices.
The notification informed that the officials were suspended due to their involvement through commission into illegal wall pasting by handpicked agents in the remits of DMC East without any approval from the competent authority.
“The officials have violated Section 96, 97 and 98 of Sindh Local Government Act 2013 for ulterior motives,” the notification added. During their suspension, the Headquarters of suspended the suspended officials shall be fixed at Sindh Local Government Board.
Secretary Local government board Sindh is constantly taking action against the corrupt officials in all district municipal corporations of Karachi and has set zero tolerance policy for the corrupt officials.
