ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wished to convert historical relations with Pakistan into economic cooperation.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Turkey had supported Pakistan on the issue of the Finance Action Task Force ( FATF).
The foreign minister said that India tried to create a lobby against Pakistan in the FATF, but China, Malaysia, and Turkey have been on the side of Pakistan.
According to the foreign minister, the Turkish President had chosen a clear stance on Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK). To which the foreign minister also congratulated Kashmiris on the solidarity shown by Erdogan.
His warm welcome to Prime Minister Imran Khan in his recent visit to Malaysia turned down the impression of any differences between both the countries, Qureshi said.
Moreover, Erdogan will co-chair a Pakistan-Turkey Business and Investment Forum with Prime Minister Imran Khan today.
The 6th Session of the Pakistan-Turkey High-Level Cooperation Forum will be held today where the first session will be on investment opportunities in the country. The second session will highlight Turkish companies’ investment experience in Pakistan.
Turkish President arrived in Islamabad yesterday on a two-day visit. He addressed a joint session of Parliament House in Islamabad where he said that he was thankful for the opportunity to address the session. He is accompanied by around 60 Turkish businessmen and investors.
