US President Donald Trump has said there could be “good news” regarding Iran, hinting that a surprise announcement may come as early as tomorrow.

According to international media reports, Trump stated that if no agreement is reached, US restrictions on Iranian ports will remain in place. “Something is going to happen tomorrow — I think it will be very positive,” he said, adding that a surprise could be expected.

Speaking further, Trump said a “very intelligent and respected figure” would visit the White House, and that an extraordinary press conference would be held. While the event would not be directly about Iran, he noted that questions would likely focus on the issue.

He also claimed that the US blockade in the Strait of Hormuz was continuing successfully, adding that agreement had already been reached on several matters with Iran. Trump suggested Iranian leadership was presenting a different narrative domestically, while insisting he was “speaking plainly”.

The US president reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons, stating that negotiations were ongoing through his representatives but that the final decision rested with him.

He further said that, following any deal, nuclear material would be transferred from Iran to the United States, warning that if this did not happen, Washington would pursue stricter measures to secure it. He added that while a ceasefire extension was uncertain, the blockade would remain in place.

Trump also commented on regional matters, saying the US would help restore stability in Lebanon, which he said had faced prolonged difficulties. He acknowledged some differences with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but described him as a strong partner.

It is worth noting that Iran has reopened the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping, but has said this is conditional on a ceasefire. Tehran has warned that the waterway could be closed again if any agreement is violated.
