KARACHI: A truck transporting sacrificial goats valued at Rs1.5 million for Eidul Adha was hijacked by armed robbers near Kamran Chowrangi in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on Wednesday. The aggrieved trader has lodged a complaint with the Jauhar police.
The victim, Rehan, reported that four robbers on two motorcycles took the truck driver hostage. The driver was transporting the goats from Hyderabad to Karachi for Eidul Adha. In addition to stealing the goats, the robbers also took cash and a mobile phone from the driver. The incident occurred while the driver was searching for the delivery address.
Meanwhile, the SITE Super Highway Industrial Area police arrested six suspects based on a tip-off. These suspects had previously escaped after snatching cattle worth millions of rupees and had stolen 35 calves.
District East SSP Dr. Farrukh Raza stated that a trader from Rahim Yar Khan had brought his calves to Karachi to sell at the cattle market on the Northern Bypass. The suspects had given the trader Rs400,000 as a token payment before loading 41 of his animals onto trucks. They then forced the trader off the truck at Al-Azam Square by brandishing weapons, and subsequently, the suspects sped away with the cattle, holding them in an enclosure.
