Flooding caused by breaches in Nullah Deg and Bherr has disrupted rail services in Punjab after affecting the foundations of key railway bridges as authorities have diverted Karachi-bound trains, while rising river levels and fresh rain forecasts continue to heighten flood risks across Pakistan.

Flooding caused breaches at 25 locations along the Lahore-Shahdara-Sheikhupura-Faisalabad railway section, severely disrupting rail operations after floodwaters eroded the foundations of two bridges, including a major bridge near Qila Sattar Shah.

Pakistan Railways has suspended all train services originating from Lahore to Faisalabad, as well as Lahore-Karachi and Khanewal-Lahore trains operating via Faisalabad. Passengers with confirmed bookings have been advised to claim refunds from railway reservation offices.

Karachi-bound trains that normally pass through Faisalabad are being diverted via Sahiwal and Khanewal, while services between Lahore and Faisalabad will remain suspended until the damaged track is repaired.

The Karakoram Express and Shalimar Express have also been rerouted through Raiwind, Sahiwal and Khanewal, bypassing Faisalabad until further notice. Meanwhile, the Mianwali Express, which usually operates between Lahore and Sargodha, will now travel via Wazirabad and Lala Musa due to the disruption caused by flooding.
