A helicopter crashed in the Indian city of Kedarnath. According to Indian media, all seven passengers on board were killed in the horrific accident.
According to details, after the plane crash at Ahmedabad Airport that resulted in dozens of fatalities, the helicopter crash has also caused significant loss of life. Indian media reports that all 7 people on board the helicopter lost their lives.
Indian media further states that the ill-fated helicopter had taken off from Dehradun, and shortly before the crash, contact with air traffic control was lost. The helicopter went missing near Gaurikund, which is located at a high altitude near the Himalayan temple.
Authorities have started searching for the wreckage of the helicopter at the relevant locations. Initial reports indicate that the crash occurred due to bad weather.
Earlier, Air India Flight AI 171, a Boeing 787‑8 Dreamliner operating from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, plunged into a residential area in Meghani Nagar less than a minute after takeoff at around 13:38 IST.
With 230 passengers and 12 crew aboard, nearly all were killed on impact, along with several individuals on the ground. The only confirmed survivor, a British national seated near the emergency exit, was found injured but alive.
