LOS ANGELES: Actor Tom Hanks has reportedly written back to a boy, being bullied over his name Corona.
An eight-year-old boy, named Corona De Vries, from Australia wrote Tom Hanks after he recovered from the coronavirus that he had contracted during their tour in Australia.
The boy in a letter, sent to Hanks, had written, “I heard on the news you and your wife had caught the coronavirus, are you ok?”
He further told the actor that while he loved his name, he had been subjected to bullying at school which made him feel sad and angry.
Writing back to the boy, the Academy Award winner actor said, “Your letter made my wife and I feel so wonderful!” He continued, “You know, you are the only person I have ever known to have the name Corona like the ring around the sun, a crown,” he added.
Hanks also sent the boy a typewriter. He wrote in the letter, “I thought this typewriter would suit you. Ask a grown-up of how it works. And use it to write me back.”
“Signing off,” Hanks wrote by adding “P.S. You got a friend in ME!”
Tom Hanks along with his wife was tested positive for coronavirus in March. The actor contracted the disease while working on a film in Australia. Later, the pair recovered and returned to Los Angeles after a two-week quarantine.
