ISLAMABAD: Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has postponed its protest scheduled on February 16 after reaching an agreement with the government.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had confirmed the agreement and said an official team is negotiating with TLP and the party’s demand will be discussed in the parliament.
“Our team held successful negotiations with the TLP and they have extended their deadline until April 20 for their demands related to Khatam-e-Nabuwat (finality of Prophethood PBUH) laws,” said the prime minister.
He further said that the demands of the TLP would be tabled before the parliament after April 20, 2021. He said that his government has raised the issue effectively at all the international forums.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadri and Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed signed the agreement on behalf of the government.
Furthermore, the names of the TLP leaders will be excluded from the fourth schedule list. The agreement will be canceled if any party commits any violation.
According to the agreement, the government has reiterated its resolve on November 2020 agreement and said the demands of the TLP regarding Khatam-e-Nabuwat would be presented before the parliament.
It has been made clear that decisions would be taken after the approval of the parliament and the names of TLP workers enlisted in the fourth schedule would be removed. The government will also place the matter of expelling the ambassador of France before the parliament.
