QUETTA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz today (Sunday) has asserted that the has come to change the fate of Pakistan and Balochistan.
Maryam Nawaz arrived at the jalsa paying homage to Baloch culture by wearing a traditionally embroidered frock. The 11-party opposition is holding its third power show in Quetta, under the banner of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
Talking about the missing persons issue in Balochistan, Maryam Nawaz said, “I know that young people are picked up from here, and at times their mutilated bodies are found but often they go missing forever,” she said.
“When I was sitting on the stage, a little girl came to me crying and showed pictures of her three brothers, who were picked up from their home, and since then they haven’t returned home,” she added.
The PML-N vice president pointed out that she never cried at any moment in her life. “My mother died but I didn’t cry, my father was sent to jail twice but I didn’t cry. However, when I heard that girl’s story, it brought tears to my eyes,” she remarked.
“Have some fear. You also have kids. They think that the people of Balochistan don’t have the right to elect their own representatives. However, the time has come to change the fate of Pakistan and Balochistan. No longer will husbands and brothers go missing in the province,” she added.
Maryam Nawaz also criticized the government for not providing scholarships to the students of Balochistan. “Students from Balochistan and Punjab are close to my heart,” she added.
She also quoted the events in France connected to blasphemous caricatures, saying that sentiments of Pakistanis were hurt after depictions of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) were projected onto government buildings in France.
Speaking of her intentions behind donning a traditional Balochi dress, she said, “I want to convey that I love the people of Balochistan more than the people of Punjab.”
