Three policemen arrested for extortion in Karachi

KARACHI: Three policemen of Karachi’s Sachal police station were arrested today (Monday) for extorting money.

According to details, the detained policemen include Constable Ijaz Rajpar, Constable Dhani Bakhsh, and Constable Altaf Hussain.

Residents of the area had lodged several complaints against the detained policemen and Head Constable Yaqub for allegedly extorting money from local traders under various pretexts.

Upon receiving information from an Intelligence officer, SHO Sachal, Safdar Abbasi along with a police team arrested three extortionist policemen on the spot. However, Head Constable Yaqub was not present on the said spot.

A police spokesperson informed that cases have been registered against the detained accused under Criminal Section 384/34 TPP.

The spokesperson further said that an investigation has been launched against the police personnel. SHO Sachal police station said that they will not tolerate any extortionist police personnel and strict action will be taken against them.

Earlier today (Monday), Police have had arrested a target killer involved in the killing of 35 people in the metropolitan.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East, Sajid Saduzai, “The suspect identified as Muhammad Aslam is accused of killing at least 35 people”.
