Three children have died after consuming contaminated halwa in Dera Ismail Khan.
According to police, the incident occurred in the Darazinda tehsil, where the children lost their lives after eating unhealthy halwa.
Authorities said the children had found and eaten the halwa in a forest area, while their family was living in the mountains for labor work.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation, adding that all aspects of the incident are being examined.
Last November in Gujranwala, four children fell seriously ill after eating toxic food in the Mor Aimanabad area on June 29. Three of the children had died earlier, while a fourth child passed away last night.
A report by the Punjab Forensic Laboratory confirmed that the deaths were caused by poison. Evidence of phosphine poison was found in three of the deceased children.
Police officials said investigations are underway to determine whether the food was accidentally contaminated or deliberately poisoned. A team led by senior investigation officers has been assigned to probe the incident from all angles.
