Netflix just released the IC814: Kandahar Hijack Trailer, the drama thriller series based on the true events of the late 1999 hijacking of an Indian Airlines Airbus carrying approximately 188 passengers. The teaser unveils the first look of the series and gives glimpses of the incident that shocked the entire nation.

With director Anubhav Sinha’s vision, the series follows the various aspects of the hijacking and the subsequent negotiations. The cast includes Vijay Verma, Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Arvind Swamy, and Patralekha, among others.

Viewers will witness a cinematic depiction of the IC814 Kandahar hijacking incident, which took place on December 24, 1999. An Indian Airlines Airbus with around 188 passengers was hijacked after takeoff from Kathmandu. This event became the longest hijacking in Indian aviation history, lasting seven days.

The plane flew from Kathmandu to Amritsar, then to Lahore for refueling, followed by a stop in Dubai, and finally reached Taliban-controlled Kandahar. The hostages were eventually released on December 31, 2000.
