According to astronomers, the brightest and closest supermoon of 2025, known as the Beaver Moon, will be visible in the sky on November 4 and 5 this week.
This supermoon will be at its closest distance to Earth, at a distance of about 221,817 miles, which is about 2,800 miles closer than the October supermoon.
The name Beaver Moon is attributed to North American traditions.
According to NASA, although the supermoon is not actually large in size, it appears 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter due to its proximity to Earth.
The moon will reach its full moon phase at exactly 6:19 PM local time (PKT) on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
While the exact moment of peak fullness is on November 5th evening, the moon will appear large and bright throughout the nights of Tuesday, November 4th, and Wednesday, November 5th.
The best time to observe the supermoon and see the “moon illusion” effect (where it appears largest and often with a golden hue) is when it is low on the horizon, shortly after moonrise on the evening of November 4th and 5th.
Interestingly, this phenomenon will also be seen with the Toroid meteor showers, which are known as bright fireballs in the sky.
