An anti-terrorism operation is expected to start in multiple areas of Lower Kurram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following an attack on a convoy delivering supplies to Para Chinar and other parts of Kurram district, as reported by national media.
According to a report by ARY News on Friday, the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Kurram has issued an order to establish temporary displacement camps in anticipation of the operation.
This action follows a recent attack on a convoy in Begun, which led to the martyrdom of two personnel and the disappearance of five drivers, whose bodies were recovered today.
The camps will be set up in several locations, including Tehsil Degree College, Technical College, Rescue 1122 office, and the courts building in Lower Kurram to offer shelter and aid to those affected by the operation. The Provincial Relief Office has been informed to assist in setting up these camps.
An additional deputy commissioner will manage the operation, which aims to safeguard the local population during the anti-terrorism efforts.
Citizens are struggling due to shortages of food and essential items, and are urging authorities to ensure the continuous delivery of cargo convoys without interruption.
Ongoing lawlessness and roadblocks in the area have caused a long-standing disruption in supply lines, leading to severe shortages of food, medicines, and other necessities.
The district administration has also reported the demolition of bunkers in the Balash Khel and Khar Kalay areas of Lower Kurram, with seven bunkers destroyed so far.
A two-month Section 144 has been imposed in the troubled Kurram district, prohibiting the display of arms and gatherings of four or more people.
