FBR bars tax officials from personal interaction

Over the last six months, FBR collects Rs 2080bn: Shabbar
ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Shabbar Zaidi has said that the tax officials would be barred from personal interaction with businessmen.

The Chairman FBR posted on a tweet, “From November 1, 2019 strict enforcement will be made against unauthorized interaction between FBR staff and business community.”

The Chairman FBR added, “The business community is suggested to report to FBR if any personal contacts in any manner without proper authorisation. No harassment.”
Shabbar Zaidi said that FBR will not interact with businessmen through personal visits, telephone calls, cell phone messages or emails.

In another tweet, Zaidi shared the FBR’s records. He stated that the number of tax returns filed this year has also increased. The tax returns filed so far (till October 25) stood at 918,027.

The average tax returns filed per day amounted to 18,735 during the current fiscal year. During the same period, last year’s tax returns filed amounted to 8242. Tax returns per day showed a noticeable rise of 127 percent.
