KABUL: Clashes continue with the Afghan Taliban’s security forces and occupation of provinces that have taken control of nine more provinces in a week after repulsing government forces in two more provinces, including Badakhshan.
According to details, the militant group captured two more provincial capitals of Afghanistan during the latest advance. Control of the capitals of Farah and Darakhshan provinces passed from the Afghan government to the Taliban.
The Afghan Taliban seized the governor’s house and police headquarters in Farah city. This is the ninth Taliban capture in a week. The European Union says the Taliban have taken control of 65 percent of the country.

The Taliban also took control of Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan Province. According to foreign media, about 400,000 Afghans were forced to flee during fierce clashes between the Taliban and security forces. Earlier, the Afghan Taliban seized control of the 7th provincial capital, Farah, forcing government forces to retreat after a fierce battle.
Fighting between government forces and the Taliban continues in various parts of Afghanistan, according to media reports, while the Taliban had seized seven provincial capitals of the country, including Aibak, Kunduz, Sar-e-Pul, Taloqan, Sheberghan, and Zaranj.
