SYDNEY: New Zealand hammered Australia by 89 runs to score a massive win in the T20 World Cup’s Super 12s opener. This is said to be first win by Blackcaps against Australia in Australia in any format since 2011.

Earlier, Devon Conway (92*) and Finn Allen (42) helped New Zealand to put on 200/3 after being put into bat first by Australia.
The opening partnership between Allen and Conway was off 56 runs, and it came in just 25 balls. Finn smashed 16-ball 42. Conway then added a valuable 69-run stand for the second wicket with captain Kane Williamson (23). A 13-ball 26 from James Neesham helped New Zealand to end with a flourish. Conway and Neeshan put on an unbeaten 48 runs for the fourth wicket in 24 balls.
Later, Australia were bundled out for 111 runs. Only 5 Aussie players could enter double figure. GJ Maxwell remained scorer with 28 runs off 20 balls, followed by PJ Cummins with 21 runs off 18 balls.
After today’s win, New Zealand go away with two points and, more importantly, a net run rate of +4.450.
