Former Pakistan cricket team chief selector Muhammad Wasim has made startling claims, suggesting that all-rounder Imad Wasim misrepresented the nature of his injury during the critical T20 World Cup period.
During a recent appearance on a private TV program following Pakistan’s disappointing loss to India in their second match of the ongoing tournament, Wasim revealed that Imad Wasim had initially reported a knee injury but later claimed it was a rib issue, casting doubts on the team’s transparency and fitness management.
“If there is a compromise on fitness, then the results will be the same,” asserted Muhammad Wasim, highlighting the potential repercussions of such actions on the team’s performance.
Expressing dismay over the current state of team dynamics, the former selector lamented the apparent lack of unity compared to two years ago. “With the entry of certain people, the atmosphere and results of the team are in front of everyone,” he remarked, alluding to potential disruptions within the team.
Earlier reports suggested that due to Imad Wasim’s incomplete recovery from health issues, team management was contemplating his return after the India match. However, sources indicate a desire from team management to retain Imad for future matches despite concerns over his fitness.
In light of the uncertainty surrounding Imad Wasim’s fitness, discussions have emerged regarding potential replacements. Spinner Mehran Mumtaz’s name has surfaced as a potential candidate to fill the void left by Imad Wasim. Sources indicate that team management is earnestly considering adding Mumtaz to the squad for upcoming matches, signaling a potential shift in team composition.
