RAWALPINDI: The accused who allegedly killed his sister two days ago in Gujar Khan city, Rawalpindi district, has been arrested, police said on Saturday.
The accused was taken into custody in connection with the case registered at Gujar Khan Police Station, officials added.
Police stated that the man was involved in the killing of his sister after she married her choice. Officials said the complaint was lodged by the victim’s father, who alleged that his daughter was shot and killed by his son.
The father maintained that his daughter had run away from home on the day of her vacation in January this year and subsequently married the man she had chosen.
He further claimed that following the marriage, the victim was living with her husband in Karachi.
According to police, the father alleged that his son later brought the girl back home from Karachi about four days ago after “making peace,” before the alleged incident occurred.
The police said they registered a case following the complaint and initiated legal proceedings against the accused.
Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the killing and to confirm the timeline provided by the family, police added.
