Pakistani actress and model Sunita Marshall has termed it normal for children to have boyfriends or girlfriends. She urged parents to be understanding about children’s friendships.
Sunita Marshall appeared on a private TV channel’s morning show, where she discussed various topics, including children’s friendships.
The actress said that in our society, men tend to be a bit short-tempered and don’t listen to their wives much. My children are still young, and they don’t have boyfriends or girlfriends yet — and if they do, I don’t know about it.
The actress stated that sometimes she whispers to her husband, actor Hassan Ahmed, that having a boyfriend or girlfriend at this age is normal.
Sunita Marshall further said that she is referring to households where men don’t listen — in such cases, the wife should gradually and lovingly make her husband understand, so that if something about the children comes up suddenly, it doesn’t come as a shock.
It is worth noting that in Pakistani society, the concept of boyfriends and girlfriends is not considered appropriate, and most parents advise their children from a young age to stay away from such relationships.
Sunita Marshall’s statement has sparked concern among social media users. Fans who consider actresses to be role models say that, as a role model, Sunita Marshall should have avoided speaking on such a sensitive topic.
