PESHAWAR: The price of sugar in different cities of Pakistan has once again reached to Rs. 100 per kg.
In Peshawar, the price of sugar has gone up to Rs. 100 per kg and some retailers are selling at Rs. 110 per kg at retail.
The price of sugar in the wholesale market of Peshawar went from Rs. 98 to Rs 100 per kg. Citizens have expressed concern over rising prices and called on the government to stabilize rates.
In Karachi too, the price of retail sugar has gone up to Rs 100 per kg while the price of wholesale sugar has gone up to Rs 95 per kg. The prices increased by Rs 15 per kg in three months in the city.
The price of sugar is also rising in Lahore as a price of a 50 kg sack has increased by Rs. 5, after which sugar is being sold from Rs. 100 to Rs 105 per kg.
According to the shopkeepers, the reduction in retail is possible only after a reduction in wholesale prices. The Federal Bureau of Statistics also confirmed in its weekly report that sugar prices have been rising for two consecutive months. Last week, the price of sugar rose by Rs 2.88 per kg.
According to a report released by the Bureau of Statistics, inflation eased to 0.22 percent last week, while prices of 15 daily necessities rose last week.
