KARACHI: Several students were injured as a result of a clash between two student groups at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology (FUAAST) Abdul Haq Campus.
According to reports, the clash occurred after activists of Imamia Students Organization (ISO) entered the campus to take control. There were reports of firing, injuries and commotion on the campus.
A similar incident took place at the varsity’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal campus recently after which ISO activists visited the Abdul Haq Campus on Monday, leading to the incident.
The People Student Federation (PSF), which has been dominant on campus for a long time, tried to stop the new student group, which resulted in a clash on campus.
Several students were injured in the incident. Â Rangers and police personnel have been present on the campus since morning but the clash broke out in their presence.
The ISO students belonged to Gulshan-e-Iqbal campus but were seen brazenly walking on the other campus despite the presence of police.
Law enforcement agencies have removed the PSF students from the campus. Rangers and senior police officials arrived at the campus and started further investigation.
SSP City reached the spot and reviewed the situation. He said some people have been slightly injured in the incident and action is being taken against those involved in the incident. He said the situation has been brought under control.
