LAHORE: The Former secretary of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Kanwar Dilshad, already serving as advisor to Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, has also been assigned with the portfolio of Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
Dilshad has remained as strong critic of PTI and the policies of Imran Khan, and from time to time opted to peddled narrative that appeared to be in opposition of the policies of previous government. Writing an article recently, Kanwar Dilshad said “President’s letter to ECP is illegal and unconstitutional and unilaterally fixed April 9 as the date for elections for the provincial assemblies of Punjab and the KP,” something the Supreme Court didn’t agree with to the extent of Punjab.
A notification issued Monday night reads “In exercise of the power conferred upon him under Section 3(2) of the Punjab Advisors (Salary, Allowances and Privileges) Ordinance 2002, Chief Minister is pleased to assign the portfolio of “Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department” to Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, already appointed as Advisor to Chief Minister, Punjab.”
Kanwar Dilshad, a former federal secretary (BPS-22) has also served as Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (2004 –2009).
He did his MA in journalism in 1968 from Punjab University, LLB in 1970 from Punjab University, and MA in Political Science from the University of Baluchistan in 1982.
He is an accomplished electoral professional, possessing management experience of over 30 years in national and multinational organizations.
