Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a scheduled 12-hour gas load shedding for various areas in Karachi on August 4. This planned outage is part of the company’s efforts to enhance the gas supply infrastructure and improve gas pressure for consumers across the city.
According to a statement from SSGC, the initiative aims to benefit industrial, commercial, and domestic consumers by ensuring a more stable and efficient gas supply. The company plans to integrate a new 20-inch diameter, 12.5-kilometer-long transmission pipeline into the existing gas system. This significant infrastructure upgrade is expected to enhance the overall gas distribution network, thereby addressing the issues of low gas pressure and ensuring a more reliable supply.
To facilitate the connection of this new pipeline, SSGC has scheduled a temporary suspension of gas supply in multiple areas from 8 AM to 8 PM on August 4, which falls on a Sunday. The affected areas will experience a complete halt in gas supply for the 12-hour duration.
The areas impacted by this outage include key residential and industrial zones such as Korangi Sector 21, 28, 29, G-36, B-36, 37-A Hashim Goth, Mansehra Colony, Allahabad Goth, and the surrounding neighborhoods.
This interruption will affect both industrial and residential consumers. SSGC has advised consumers to plan accordingly and make necessary arrangements to minimize the inconvenience caused by this temporary disruption. The company also reassures that the upgrade work is essential for long-term benefits and improved gas service in the region.
