ISLAMABAD: The court of Srinagar has dismissed the cases filed against Hurriyat leader Muhammad Yasin Malik and several others in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).
As per Kashmir Media Service, the Court set the leaders free after the prosecution failed to provide any evidence against them in the false cases registered against them since 1998.
Last month, several Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Professor Abdul Ghani Bhatt, Javaid Ahmed Mir, Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Hubbi, and Ghulam Nabi Zaki were summoned by the court in two cases.
The court not delaying further time, conducting the proceedings as High Court directed the Srinagar court of speedy trial in the cases that were over two-decade-old.

The cases were registered against the accused by the Indian police in Srinagar’s Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station in 1998 against for holding an anti-India protest march in the city.
Earlier on Tuesday, Mishal Malik, the wife of Yasin Malik, termed 2019 the worst year for Kashmiris.
She said during an interview with journalists that the Indian government was trying to change the demography of Indian occupied Kashmir and has kept Yasin Malik in the death cell.
According to Malik, India has planned to build townships for hundreds of thousands of Hindus in IoK.
