Sri Lanka has announced a free visa scheme for Pakistani citizens in a move aimed at strengthening tourism, trade and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
According to media reports, Sri Lanka’s Consul General in Pakistan, Sanjeeva Pathuwala, said online visa applications submitted by Pakistani nationals are now being processed within 48 hours.
He said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to expand bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in areas including education, trade, investment and defence.
Sri Lankan authorities said the simplified visa process will make travel easier for Pakistani businesspeople, students and tourists, while further strengthening ties between the peoples of both countries.
Sri Lanka is also promoting itself as an attractive destination for Pakistani travellers, highlighting its scenic beaches, historic and cultural landmarks, wildlife parks, and picturesque hill country attractions.
