Sports, showbiz and politics

Riyatullah Farooqui by Riyatullah Farooqui
September 20, 2021

Just like we have an establishment in our domestic politics, which control our politicians for their own benefits, certainly an establishment is present that control world politics. It is often called a Global Establishment. This body contains five English-speaking countries, but the real players are the United States and the United Kingdom. And that’s because of the global influence and powerful intelligence agencies of both countries.

If you think that any international organization or event is outside the sphere of influence of this establishment, then it is your delusion. When politicians talk about people-to-people contact, it begins with showbiz stages and playgrounds. So it is irrational to think that showbiz or sports have nothing to do with politics.

The political use of showbiz and sports can be traced back to its history. For example, when the Soviet Union collapsed, the importance of India in our region to the global establishment doubled. During this period, India was pursuing a policy of self-reliance in the form of its products rather than imports. So even the cars running on its roads were what India itself was manufacturing.

The rulers of India also used to drive Maruti. Same goes to other products. They were only importing such things that were not available in the country. But one of the two main reasons for the global establishment’s interest was to bring it into the free market economy and open its doors to its products. In this regard, India was being approached. It was also shown the dream of becoming a leader of the region.

First of all, they introduce Indian artists on the world stage and even an Indian woman was also named Ms Universe from the stage of a global event. Meanwhile, Indian politicians were also bribed. Thus India accepted the global establishment as its companion. So it was the United States and the United Kingdom that seemed to be the most active in this process.

In the post9/11 situation, India’s importance increased even more. It had to compete with China. In this regard, three more Indian women were awarded Queen of Beauty. If one thinks that an event like Ms Universe are judged by an independent and sovereign reviewer, then the one should look at the names of the top three countries with most beautiful women and how many beauties from these countries have been crowned so far?

The massacre of Gujarat took place in the same period in which “global beauties” suddenly began to emerge from India. We were forced to believe by our local liberals that even if there is a small issue of human rights in the world, the international community takes stern notice.

But look at the hypocrisy of the level of Western media in the fake video of a woman whipping in Swat. The Western media strongly criticized the Pakistani authorities in this regard. But had this instability been the fate of thousands of victims in Gujarat? Were any sanctions imposed on India? Has any international organization taken any drastic action on this?

Did anyone even say that this incident tarnished India’s image? The same butcher of Gujarat becomes the Prime Minister and became the star in the eyes of the West. He did not spare minorities even after he became the Prime Minister. He is still crushing them. Has any international organization done anything in this regard?

No, this has not happened and will not happen as long as India is a need of global establishment. The same thing happens in sports. What could be more important global events than sports? So how can they avoid the influence and political use of the global establishment?

Our liberal media has made us believe that it is only India that brings politics in sports. By this phrase, in fact, our liberal media is not only trying to distort history, but are also compiling social sciences that are good for the West. The fact is that like any other global event, the global sporting event is also used for political purposes.

For example, the Olympic Games have been boycotted six times on political grounds. One of the major boycotts was the 1980 Moscow Olympics, which was boycotted by 65 countries led by the United States due to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. If sports have nothing to do with politics, why did 65 countries boycott the 1980 Moscow Olympics?

Same happened in the recent Tokyo Olympics. At the insistence of its allied majority, the United States itself had decided that the countries on the Olympic chart would not be ranked on the basis of which country had won the most overall medals. Rather, it will be based on who won the most gold medals.

Until four days before the end of the Tokyo Olympics, China had a six-gold lead over the United States. But the US was leading in combined medals. So all of a sudden, the major media houses in the United States took a U-turn and started showing America at number one position on the basis of overall medals.

However, at the end of the Tokyo Olympics, the United States gained a slight lead over China in terms of gold medals, so in response, the Chinese media also embarrassed the United States. And it was even written and said that the United States also proved its bullying and duplicity on the playing field.

It is noteworthy that all this was done by this section of the American media which has the impression that these are the representative of the establishment, for example, Washington Post, New York Times and ABC News.

So the cancellation of New Zealand cricket team’s tour to Pakistan is not an issue of security but of the global establishment’s bullying. Take a look at the world scene. The humiliation in Afghanistan has come mainly on the part of the global establishment, the five English-speaking countries.

Most of the other countries leave Afghanistan before 2014. NATO members withdrew in 2014. German, Spanish and Turkish troops remained in Afghanistan, but only in nominal numbers. And this nominal number also left Afghan territory before the final event to avoid last-minute embarrassment.

Only English-speaking countries were left behind in the final phase of the evacuation, which were disgraced on August 15. Now, this global establishment is now doing weird and stupid things to get rid of his shame, which is causing it more humiliation. They failed to achieve success in 20 years and are now blaming Pakistan for their loss.
